Nakiska: NEW! Gold Chair Express

Not only can you get to skiing faster with Nakiska being Calgary's Closest Mountain but you can now ride to the top in less than 5mins with the NEW Gold Chair Express, a new high speed quad lift at Nakiska Ski Resort. After much planning and implementation, the resort will proudly be loading excited skiers and riders upon opening on Nov 7 when the resort opens for weekends prior to the official opening on Dec 5. Being the resort in the Banff corridor to have a new lift and have all main lifts as high speed quads, Nakiska promises to shine and keep guests smiling!

Some technical stats of interest for the new lift include:

• New Leitner Poma Detachable Quad Chair Lift
• Scheduled to be opened on the first day of the season
  (Nov 7 - for weekends, Dec 5 - 7 days/week)
• Replaces the original fixed grip Triple chair of same name built in 1986 and opened in 1987
• Get up in under half the time of old lift. New ride time of 4.7 minutes - reduced from 9.7 minutes
• Significantly easier loading opens the upper mountain to all ability levels. Fewer stops due to easier loading.
• Slope Length: 1,460m (1.4 km) or 4,790 ft (0.9 miles)
• Vertical Rise: 468m or 1537 ft
• Capacity: 1,910 people per hour, up 210 from the old lift
