COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. —Copper Mountain Resort announced several capital improvements including a new Kokomo Express high speed quad chairlift, the installation of North America’s longest alpine coaster known as the Rocky Mountain Coaster at Copper Mountain, and an upgrade in lift pass technology to include gated access.

“The future is extremely bright for Copper,” said Gary Rodgers, President and General Manager of Copper Mountain Resort. “These strategic capital improvements will enhance our product offerings and truly elevate the year-round guest experience at Copper.”

Kokomo Express High Speed Quad Chairlift

The existing Kokomo lift is well known for servicing Copper’s beginner terrain. This lift will be replaced with the Kokomo Express, a new Doppelmayr high speed quad. The lift will gain 362 vertical feet and extend 215 feet downhill from the existing footprint for easier access from Copper’s West Village. With a ride time of just 4 minutes, Kokomo Express will set the bar for an exceptional beginner ski and ride experience.

Installation of Gated Access Lift Pass Technology

For the 2017/18 winter season, Copper Mountain makes the shift to gated access lift pass technology. This radio-frequency identification technology will include the installation of terminals at all mountain access lifts including the Union Creek Quad, American Flyer, American Eagle and Super Bee lifts. This upgrade will improve business operations and provide a quick and effortless way for guests to access the mountain.

The Rocky Mountain Coaster at Copper Mountain

Copper continues to transform its summer experience with the construction of an alpine coaster, an additional mountain biking trail, as well as new innovative base village activities. At 5,800 feet, the Rocky Mountain Coaster will be the longest alpine coaster in North America. With a vertical drop of 430 feet on an average grade of 10.9 percent, the Rocky Mountain Coaster will provide an exciting activity in both the summer and winter months. After the success of the Beast Mountain Coaster at Copper's sister resort, Killington, the Aquatic Development Group (ADG) is leading the charge in the design and construction of the coaster at Copper. The Rocky Mountain Coaster is expected to open September 2017.

Woodward Copper WreckTangle

From June through September, Copper’s Center Village will become a hotbed of activity in the high country. In addition to  favorite activities such as the Alpine Rush Zip Line and Summit County’s only Go-Kart Track, the new Woodward Copper WreckTangle will offer guests a unique obstacle course complete with foam pits and cargo nets right in the heart of Center Village. Woodward Copper’s Big Island Terrain Park will return for public use this summer with a new and improved layout and design. In addition to serving as the only full blown terrain park in Summit County, the revamped Big Island will be more accessible than ever, and will also offer a play area for snow lovers of all ages. This designated “snow zone” will allow kids and parents alike to play in the snow and dream of winter throughout the summer months.
